A vocal academy will soon occupy the former home of a union.

December 10, 2003 By Eileen AJ Connelly The not-for-profit Singers Forum recently purchased 4,500 square feet of office space at 49 West 24th Street. The organization purchased the entire fourth floor for $960,000 from the International Bullion and Metal Brothers USA. Gail Miranda-Schmidt, an associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, represented Singers Forum. Irwin Reicher, a partner of Linett, Schechter, Reicher & Ofsevit, represented the union. Singers Forum, founded in 1978 by Andy Anselmo and John Albert Harris, offers classes on vocal and performance technique, teacher training, and a two-week musical theater program for children, along with recitals and performances throughout the year. The location will be used for classrooms, offices and performance space. Notable performers from a variety of backgrounds have studied with Singers Forum, including Liza Minnelli, Mandy Patinkin, Tony Bennett, Eartha Kitt, John Leguizamo and Jean Kraft of the Metropolitan Opera. Paul Walker, director of Adams & Co. Real Estate, served as brokers for Singers Forum. Rob Nager, David Green and Alyne Model of Murray Hill Properties acted for the union.
